Kirk McBride Workshop - Consistency for Creativity

Kirk McBride is offering a 2-day workshop Saturday & Sunday, March 10 & 11 from 9:30-4 each day.

Following a consistent, step by step approach for every painting, from concept to paint application, actually frees you up to be your most creative. Kirk will instruct and demonstrate how he approaches the creative process in oil painting and help you develop a process that will work for you.

This two-day studio workshop will help you build the confidence needed for the next big step, taking your painting outdoors with success. Students will practice designing and creating paintings from still life and photo references. Learn how Kirk picks a composition and focal point, lays out a sketch/underpainting, organizes his palette, mixes the colors needed, and then "lets the creativity flow!"

The fee is $175 and registration is limited to 15 artists. Students should have some oil painting experience.

Call the gallery if you have any questions. If you find some need to cancel, refunds will be made if reasonable is given. Kirk will also offer a plein air workshop April 18 & 19 - just before Paint Snow Hill. Registration information will be sent in early February.

Plein Air "Tune-Up" with Kirk McBride

Plein Air painting can be overwhelming; dealing with the elements, changing light and selecting subject matter can all create barriers from creating a successful painting.

Kirk McBride will demonstrate how to organize yourself, your painting gear, and your thought process to make Plein Air painting a more enjoyable and successful experience. Topics will include choosing and simplifying subject matter, compositions that work, organizing your easel and palette, following a consistent step by step process in making a painting.

Kirk will do demos in how he creates a plein air painting and work with students on developing a systematic approach that works best for them. We will meet at Bishop's Stock in Historic Snow Hill and then paint outdoors in nearby areas (weather permitting.) In case of bad weather, we will work under shelter.

Experienced plein air painters will have tier own supplies and easels. If you need supplies check Kirk's list on his website.

Refunds will be offered only if cancellation is by April 1.

Feel free to call Bishop's Stock if you have any questions.
